Heeeeeee shoots and scores! She wants to sell my monkey! Get in the fast lane grandma, the bingo game is ready to roll! Gone are the days where a Pittsburgh Penguins television broadcast is just as exciting as the team on the ice.
The decision of Fox Sports Pittsburgh to remove Mike Lange from television play by play made about as much sense as O.J. Simpson opening up a shelter for battered women. Furthermore it even more ridiculous to replace him with the monotone, homer voice of Paul Steigerwald. While Steigerwald does fine for radio, he is no where near the Hall Of Fame television talent that Mike Lange is. Fox Sports really dropped the ball with this one. You have to at least try and replace a hall of famer with a hall of famer.
In over twenty years of watching Penguins hockey, I have enjoyed watching the games while listening to Lange's play by play. Even in the years they struggled, you always felt a little better with the entertainment value Mike Lange brought to the table. Steigerwald can make bad games totally unwatchable, and good games less enjoyable with his rambling about non-related game issues and constantly blaming uncontrollable forces of nature for every mistake the Penguins make. I find it more enjoyable to watch the games on TV with the volume muted and Lange's voice on the radio; I would rather put up with the signal delay between television and radio than listen to Paul Steigerwald.
Bob Errey is fine. Please put Steigerwald back on the radio and bring Lange back to television. Fox Sports Pittsburgh, listen to your fans for once. You goofed, PLEASE fix this mistake!
